My name is Jody Watson.  Father of 3 beautiful kids and a husband to a wonderful wife.  I live in rural Alberta where I work in Battle River School Division #31.

My tipping point was when I had the opportunity to work as the project lead for a one to one laptop project for grade 11 and 12 students.  It was a tremendous experience for me and really opened my eyes to the potential future of education.  Through professional development and twitter I have completely changed the way I look at education.

As a father of three I am very proactive to make change in our educational system.  I want my kids to have the opportunity to thrive in an unknown educational future.  I hope that I can make a difference in their educational lives.

I also love sports! I used to love playing before the body got old before its time.  Now I live vicariously through my kids and my favorite team the Los Angeles Lakers.

My educational philosopy is quite simply put with this Chinese proverb

“Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.”

It is up to us as educators to teach students how to learn instead of spoon feeding, and I believe that we have to practice what we preach.

Thanks for visiting the site I hope that I can provide you with something that will help you make a difference as well.
